The Joy of Adversity
Adversity Promotes – Furtherance - is a military term used to clear the road for an advancing army by removing the obstructions. Adversity can help remove the obstacles and open the door to witness.
Adversity Provides – Opportunities – Instead of going against the opposition go into it. Nothing is by accident everything has a purpose. It isn’t just about you. Turning what could seem like a bad situation into an adventure for God.
Adversity Gives Courage – Bravery is contagious
Adversity Proves Character – Looking for the good in those who surround our lives. Some supposedly to be friends do not have our same purpose. Their aim was to get people to follow them; Paul’s aim was to get people to follow Christ
Adversity Provokes Growth – It makes some better, it makes other bitter.
Adversity Purifies our Motives – When we know who we are, and why we are here, and where we are going, we can confidently face each day; and even difficulties take on new meaning.
Adversity Prepares Us to See Life and Death in Perspective – Life and death look to us like two evils of which we know not which is the less. They look to Paul like two immense blessings. To stay and serve the Lord is as equally a blessing as to go home and be with him.
Basically the blessings in adversity is to be able to turn our negatives into positives by looking for the good or opportunities for Gods purpose.
